Job summary

HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast is seeking a Medical Records Specialist to support the HIM Director with HPF/MPF workflow queues, scanning, and record retrieval. The role includes preparing documents for scanning, indexing, and QC validation to ensure completeness of each record.

You will assist with birth certificate processing, physician suspensions, and will interact with parents to collect birth information and guide form completion.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Hospital or medical office experience preferred, but not required.
• Certification program for birth certificate processing may be required.

Responsibilities

• Retrieves discharged medical records and reconciles them for accountability.
• Facilitates retrieval/printing of records and archival of documents.
• Assists with physician suspension processes and related communications.
• Prepares records for scanning and performs scanning/indexing.
• Performs paper-to-PC quality control validation for scans.
• Interacts with parents to collect birth information and guides form completion.
• Handles Acknowledgment of Paternity forms and related duties.
• Reviews records and resources to obtain required birth information.
