Job summary

Aviata Health Group is seeking a qualified Medical Record Coordinator to join our patient- and family-focused team. The role involves organizing and directing the medical records department, maintaining active and discharged records, and ensuring compliance with filing systems and regulations.

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10CM/DRG coding, and a commitment to accuracy and privacy. We offer comprehensive benefits and a collaborative culture.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
  • On-the-job training provided in medical record procedures.
  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Certification as a Medical Records Practitioner is preferred.
  • Experience with medical records maintenance and ICD-10CM/DRG coding.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.
  • Must be compassionate, dedicated, and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in organizing, planning and directing the medical records department in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain active and discharged medical records with established system.
  • Establish & maintain compliance with recognized filing system.
  • File information such as nurse's notes, resident's assessments, progress notes, lab reports, x-ray results, and correspondence.
  • Collect, assemble, check & file resident charts as required.
  • Assist MDS Coordinator in scheduling assessments in accordance with OBRA guidelines.
  • Review all records to assure ICD-9-CM coding is complete.
  • Respond to requests for medical records copies & provide materials in accordance with laws.
  • Provide innovative, responsible healthcare with the creation and implementation of new ideas to improve systems.

Major Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications


  • A working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, legal aspects of health information.

  • On-the-job training provided in medical record and health information system procedures.

  • Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or GED.

  • Certified as a qualified medical records practitioner preferred.

  • Documented training, supervision and experience in maintenance of medical records and ICD-10CM/DRG coding.

  • Knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements.

  • You must be qualified, compassionate, and dedicated to a job well done.
