Job summary

Boulder Medical Center (BMC) seeks a friendly, organized Medical Receptionist to join our Patient Access team at the Broadway clinic in Boulder, CO. You’ll be the first point of contact, handling calls, scheduling, and patient intake with a focus on a positive patient experience.

We offer structured onboarding, full-time hours (40/week), Monday–Friday, and a collaborative environment across specialties. Experience in healthcare is helpful, bilingual Spanish is a plus.

  • Strong grammar and spelling; proficient in English.

Responsibilities

  • Answers the telephone promptly, evaluating patient needs to determine appointment type.
  • Summarizes appointment details prior to ending the phone call.
  • Manages all phone functionalities such as transfers and messages.
  • Accurately records patient name, numbers and demographic information.
  • Schedules / reschedules / cancels appointments according to provider preferences.
  • Navigates the EMR system and inputs relevant information for patient visits.

We offerbenefit-eligible full-time positions(40 hours/week), Monday through Friday, based at ourBroadway cliniclocated at 2750 Broadway St., Boulder, CO 80304. As a Medical Receptionist aka Patient Access Associate, you'll be part of across-collaborative teamthat works closely with medical providers, clinical staff, and administrative teams to ensure smooth operations and exceptional patient care. We value team input and encourage staff at all levels toshare ideas and participate in process improvementsthat enhance the patient and employee experience. Job Duties
  • Answers the telephone promptly, evaluating patient needs to determine appointment type.

  • Manages all phone functionalities such as transfers, placing callers on hold, forwarding phone to afterhours message system, etc.
  • Accurately records patient name, numbers and demographic information using correct spelling and punctuation.
  • Schedules / reschedules / cancel appointments according to provider preference and scheduling protocol.
  • Navigatesand operates Electronic Medical Records system, arriving patient for appointments andinputting relevant information as needed.
Required Experience
  • Must use good judgment, professionalism and discretion when screening telephone calls, answering inquires and relaying appropriate information.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain phone etiquette using tact and diplomacy.
  • Must have excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong computer and data entry skills.
  • Must possess strong grammar and spelling ability as well as the ability to read, write and understand the English language.
  • Neat, well-groomed appearance and courteous manner.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and HIPAA compliance, preferred.
Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associates Degree or some college coursework in Business or Healthcare Administration, preferred.
Experience
  • One (1) year of previous work experience (retail, hospitality, administrative, restaurant, etc.),involving public contact required. Heavy phone experience, preferred.
  • Previous experience as a medically trained professional (CNA, EMT, Patient Care Technician, etc.) is a plus, but not required.
  • Previous experience with patient scheduling in a hospital or clinic setting preferred.
  • Bi-lingual ability (Spanish), a plus.
The starting hourly pay range for this position is commensurate with experience:
  • $17.19 - $22.92/hour (full pay range is $17.19 - $25.79)
