Job summary

ExpressCare Urgent Care Centers in Brooklyn Park, MD is seeking a Medical Receptionist to greet patients, register them, verify insurance, and maintain EMR records. The role includes phone management, payment processing, and general office tasks in a fast-paced urgent care setting.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma, one year of customer service experience (preferably medical), and familiarity with medical office software. Weekend and holiday availability is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, or equivalent.
• Medical Administrative Assistant certification, preferred.
• Minimum of one year of customer service experience, preferably in a medical setting.
• Experience with medical office software is a plus.
• Must have scheduling flexibility, including weekends and holidays.
• Ability to stand/walk for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Greet and register patients, update demographics, verify insurance information, and maintain accurate records in the EMR.
• Answer telephone calls, record messages, and accurately re-direct calls as needed.
• Collect patient payments and manage payment transactions.
• Assist with faxes, emails, and office organization.
• Maintain a clean and professional environment, and a welcoming waiting area.

Job Responsibilities:

• Patient interaction and registration: Greet and register patients, update demographics, verify insurance information, and maintain accurate records in the EMR
• Phone management: Answer telephone calls, record messages, and accurately re-direct calls as needed
• Payment processing: Collect patient payments and manage payment transactions
• Administrative tasks: Assist with faxes, emails, and office organization
• Office upkeep: Maintain a clean and professional environment, and maintain a welcoming waiting area
• Education:
• High School Diploma, or equivalent
• Licenses & Certifications:
• Medical Administrative Assistant, preferred
• Work Experience:
• Minimum of one year of customer service experience, preferably in a medical setting is preferred

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and coworkers
• A high level of professionalism
• Experience with medical office software is a plus
• Reliable transportation and the willingness to comply with the company travel policy
• Ability to work 13+ hour shifts, stand/walk for long periods, and lift 25 lbs.
• Must have scheduling flexibility, including weekends and holidays
• Competitive hourly pay: $16.50 - $18, plus opportunities for overtime
