Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Medical Physicist for per diem coverage in Radiation Oncology. You will calibrate and maintain equipment, perform machine acceptance tests, brachytherapy procedures, and help develop new treatment techniques and education activities.

Qualified candidates hold a CAMPEP-approved MS or PhD in Medical Physics with ABR Part I; two years clinical experience preferred. NY license and ABR Part II are desirable. Per diem daytime schedule offers flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Clinical Medical Physicist in Radiation Oncology.
• Excellent oral and communication skills.
• Must have passed Part One of the ABR.
• Preferred Part II ABR with NYS License.

Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine a Medical Physicist is a valuable member of our team who provides clinical services to our patient population. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills, while adhering to our high standards of excellence.

Duties of a Medical Physicist may include the following but are not limited to:

• Calibration and maintenance of Radiation Oncology equipment.
• Perform machine acceptance test and commissioning.
• Brachytherapy procedures.
• Development and implementation of new Radiation Therapy procedures, techniques and instrumentation.
• Education activities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• CAMPEP Approved MS or PhD degree in Medical Physics.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Clinical Medical Physicist in Radiation Oncology.
• Excellent oral and communication skills.
• Must have passed Part One of the American Board of Radiology (ABR).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Passed Part Two of the ABR with NYS License.
• Experience with Varian technology.
• SBRT/SRS planning and IGRT background.

• Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $115.00 - 122.00 / hour.

The above salary range represents SBUH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate’s validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.
