Job summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a Medical Physicist to provide clinical services to our radiation oncology patients on a per diem basis at Stony Brook, NY. The role includes calibration and maintenance of equipment, treatment planning, and involvement in SBRT/SRS and IGRT procedures.

Strong communication and ABR Part One are required, with CAMPEP-approved degrees. Preferred candidates will have NY license, Varian experience, and the ability to develop and implement new procedures while educating

Duties of a Medical Physicist may include the following but are not limited to:

• Calibration and maintenance of Radiation Oncology equipment.

• Development and implementation of new Radiation Therapy procedures, techniques and instrumentation.
• Education activities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

• CAMPEP Approved MS or PhD degree in Medical Physics.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Clinical Medical Physicist in Radiation Oncology.
• Excellent oral and communication skills.
• Must have passed Part One of the American Board of Radiology (ABR).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Passed Part Two of the ABR with NYS License.
• Experience with Varian technology.
• SBRT/SRS planning and IGRT background.

• Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen*
• Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
• Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Failure to comply with any of the above requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $115.00 - 122.00 / hour.

The above salary range represents SBUH’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate’s validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.
