Job Title: Medical Physicist

Department: Radiation Oncology

Reports To: Chief Medical Physicist

Position Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Medical Physicist to join our Radiation Oncology team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing top-tier cancer treatment, ensuring the safe and effective delivery of radiation therapy.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Calibrate and Maintain Radiation Therapy Equipment: Perform regular calibration and maintenance of all radiation therapy machines to ensure their optimal performance and safety.
  • Develop and Implement Treatment Plans: Collaborate with radiation oncologists to design and implement treatment plans that effectively target cancer cells while protecting healthy tissue.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance Checks: Regularly perform comprehensive quality assurance tests on radiation therapy equipment, ensuring adherence to national and international safety standards.
  • Engage in Research and Development: Participate in research initiatives aimed at advancing radiation therapy techniques and contribute to scientific publications and conferences.
  • Educate and Train Healthcare Professionals: Provide training and education to radiation therapists, dosimetrists, and medical residents on the principles of radiation physics and the safe operation of equipment.
  • Ensure Patient Safety and Regulatory Compliance: Implement and oversee safety protocols, ensuring patient safety and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with Multidisciplinary Teams: Work closely with a team of healthcare professionals, including radiation oncologists, radiologists, and nurses, to deliver comprehensive patient care.
  • Solve Complex Problems: Apply innovative problem-solving skills to develop customized solutions for unique treatment challenges.
  • Maintain Technical Expertise: Keep up-to-date with the latest developments in the field of radiation therapy and medical physics.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Medical Physics or related field.
  • Certification by the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Medical Physics or equivalent.
  • Holds HDR license or eligible
  • Strong background in radiation physics and extensive experience with radiation therapy equipment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and team collaboration skills.
