Job description

Overview

US Oncology Network is seeking a full-time, board-certified medical dosimetrist. This APEx-accredited center is located 20 miles northwest of Downtown Los Angeles. It features advanced equipment including a Varian Halcyon, Siemens CT simulator, Vision RT, Aria / Eclipse 16.1, Radformation, and Mobius applications.

Open to remote candidates.

Salary Range: $135,000-$179,000

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generate radiation therapy treatment plans using computer software and imaging modalities with strong attention to detail.
  • Identify and delineate anatomy on imaging; create compensation filters, shields, and beam-modifying devices as needed.
  • Perform patient-specific quality assurance activities under the supervision of the medical physicist.
  • Complete treatment plans accurately and timely based on complexity.
  • Adapt to new technologies and learn new systems and techniques.
  • Assist in planning immobilization devices and consult during treatment simulations, complying with state laws.
  • Communicate treatment plans effectively with physicians and staff, offering alternatives when necessary.
  • Coordinate with therapists regarding treatment plan implementation, including immobilization devices and treatment variables.
  • Document all planning and QA tasks accurately.
  • Transfer treatment plans and related data to the ROIS system and verify post-transfer accuracy.
  • Perform general computerized tasks like word processing, spreadsheets, file management, and data backup.
  • Assist in brachytherapy procedures and dose calculations, after credentialing.
  • Perform radiation protection and equipment QA under supervision.
  • Teach dosimetry principles to students and residents as assigned.
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Credentials as a Certified Medical Dosimetrist (CMD).
  • Excellent communication skills, team-oriented, eager to learn new technologies.
  • Two or more years of clinical experience preferred.

Physical demands include manual dexterity, ability to read measurements, and sitting/standing for long periods. Occasional lifting up to 40 lbs. Must have normal vision and hearing.

The work environment may involve exposure to patients, toxic substances, and chemotherapeutic agents.
