Job summary

Aiken Regional Medical Centers in Aiken, SC seeks a Medical Peer Review RN to coordinate and direct the medical peer review process, collaborating with the Medical Peer Review Committee and Medical Staff Services Director to ensure timely, confidential reviews that meet regulatory guidelines.

You will perform Level I reviews, prepare summaries, coordinate data retrieval with Medical Records, and facilitate OPPE/FPPE, contributing to continuous quality and patient safety within UHS.

Qualifications

• Degree in accredited Registered Nursing Program; BSN required.
• Minimum 3-5 years in acute care with broad medical diagnoses, treatments, and interventions; familiarity with performance improvement and Joint Commission standards.

Responsibilities

• Facilitates, as necessary, concurrent peer review with department manager and physician chair or designee.
• Prepares a summary report of concurrent review conclusions for presentation to MPRC.
• Coordinates with Medical Records for data/record retrieval for retrospective peer review process.
• Maintains up-to-date knowledge of issues being reviewed to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of review.
• Performs Level I Medical Peer Reviews, documents summary of case review.
• Facilitates referral of issues to appropriate physicians, clinical admins, and ancillary areas for implementation of improvements/recommendations.
• Coordinates with Medical Staff Services for flow of information/reporting to reach medical staff development.
• Collaborates with Medical Staff Coordinator to facilitate OPPE/FPPE.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
