Job summary

MedVet is seeking an Emergency Veterinary Assistant to join our fast-paced ER team. You will assist with rounds, triage, and coordination with the care team while communicating clearly with clients. This role requires prior veterinary and emergency experience and strong calculation skills.

Proposed Schedule: Sunday 8a-8:30p, Monday 11a-11:30p, Tuesday 1p-1:30a. Hiring range is $17.00–$28.00/hr based on experience. Comprehensive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Prior veterinary experience required; previous emergency experience desired.
• Proficient in calculations (drugs, CRIs, unit conversions).
• Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases and gather information as necessary.
• Evaluating incoming patients and prioritizing based on assessment.
• Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns.
• Provide client education including home care instructions, medications and wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
• Assist DVM with patient assessment, treatment and procedures.
• Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
• Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
• Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.

We are looking for: Emergency Veterinary Assistant

What you’ll do:

Who you are:
