Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine is seeking a medical oncologist/hematologist to practice in a new location in Chesterfield County. The role includes seeing patients in the outpatient clinic, attending on inpatient wards, and participating in the consult service.

The position emphasizes translational research, teaching medical students, residents, and fellows, and opportunities for scholarly activity within a premier academic medical center.

Qualifications

• Board certified or eligible in medical oncology or hematology.
• Eligible for Virginia licensure.
• Evidence of accomplishment/potential (publications, trial PI) during medical school, residency, fellowship, and/orearly academic career
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a faculty at VCU

Responsibilities

• Attends on the inpatient wards and consult service, and/or sees patients in the outpatient clinic with a focus on hematologic malignancies.
• Trains medical students, residents and fellows in the lab and while in the clinic. Actively participate in providing clinical research opportunities to fellows.
• You may participate in sponsored research activities, including preparing manuscripts for scholarly journals and presentations at professional conferences.
• You may be an investigator on sponsored research activities.
