Job description

Overview

MUSC Community Physicians (MCP) is an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina that provides healthcare to patients within the rural health network throughout the state of South Carolina.

Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative coverage at the front desk of the Clinic, including monitoring the clinic appointment line and scheduling appointments for clients from outside medical, hospital, or correction systems. Answer multiline telephones. Take payments from clients for clinical services. Complete client registration and documentation. Schedule interpreters for clients. Retrieve billing charges. Coordinate and participate in a variety of duties associated with daily clinic preparation, patient identification, check in/out, charge posting, cash management, and patient appointment scheduling. Provide customer service, message distribution, ancillary scheduling and preparation, and referrals management.
Minimum Education And Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalency plus one year of patient care experience in a health care facility; or a Certified Nursing Assistant; or successful completion of a Nursing Assistant or Medical Assistant course at an accredited institution or equivalent training; or EMT or Paramedic certification; or a Bachelor’s degree.

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to perform job functions while standing and sitting.
  • Ability to perform job functions while walking and climbing stairs.
  • Ability to work from elevated areas and in confined/cramped spaces.
  • Ability to perform job functions from kneeling positions, bending and twisting at the waist, squatting, and repetitive motions with hands/wrists/elbows and shoulders.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs unassisted and to lift/lower objects from/to floor up to 36 inches unassisted.
  • Ability to reach overhead and perform gross motor activities with fingers and hands; maintain 20/40 vision corrected; see objects at close and distance; distinguish colors; maintain hearing acuity.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts and overtime as required; capable of working in a latex-safe environment; maintain tactile sensory functions.
