Job summary

Catholic Health Physician Practices in New York is seeking a Medical Assistant to support patient care and clinic operations, balancing clinical tasks with administrative duties to keep the practice running smoothly.

You will perform phlebotomy, take vitals, assist with procedures, manage patient flow, and help front desk as needed. A NYS-accredited program completion and an active MA certification (or equivalent) plus BCLS are required or preferred.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a NYS-accredited Medical Assistant program is required.
  • Current Medical Assistant certification preferred (NHA, AMT, AAMA, NCCT).
  • BCLS certification (in-person training only, American Heart Association).
  • Strong clinical skills including phlebotomy and aseptic technique.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare exam rooms: sanitize, stock supplies, and ensure medications/vaccines are ready for the day.
  • Review upcoming appointments and identify gaps in care (mammograms, colonoscopies, immunizations, etc.).
  • Escort patients to rooms and manage patient flow to maximize efficiency.
  • Take and record vitals, patient history, allergies, medications, and current concerns.
  • Assist with procedures, including EKGs, Holter monitors, and in-office testing.
  • Collect and process lab specimens; track and document results.
  • Perform quality control on equipment and testing materials.
  • Help at the front desk when needed — greeting patients, answering phones, verifying insurance.
  • Collaborate with providers and the care team to ensure the best patient outcomes.

What You’ll Do:

Salary Range
