Job Description
Administers para-professional nursing care. Duties include preparing patients for physicians, administering and recording laboratory tests, and organizing patient needs including clinic charts.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the healthcare team to coordinate and implement patient care plans; may record patient history.
- Performs measurement and screening procedures such as height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, temperature, audiometry, and vision testing. Records findings on patient charts.
- Collects blood and urine specimens, assists in collection, labels, and routes specimens according to procedures.
- May perform electrocardiograms and assist with special procedures like L.P. and pelvic exams, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of examination rooms, stocks supplies, and ensures proper documentation of procedures.
- Performs administrative functions such as maintaining medical records, processing insurance forms, and preparing financial records.
- Performs related duties as required.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a 6-month to 1-year accredited Medical Assistant course.
- Prior experience as a medical assistant preferred.
- Typing speed of 30 wpm; basic mathematical skills desirable.
- Effective communication skills.
