Job summary

IMS Care Center in Mesa is seeking a Medical Office Assistant to support our Primary Care clinic team. You will assist patients and families before, during, and after visits, coordinating check-in/check-out and smooth clinic operations under clinician supervision.

The ideal candidate has a high school diploma (or equivalent) and experience with medical office procedures, EMR and scheduling software, plus strong interpersonal skills and HIPAA compliance. Front office experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must have one of the following: CNA, Registered Medical Assistant, EMT certification, or 2–5 years medical assisting experience.
  • Experience with office medical procedures and scheduling software.
  • Front Office experience in a clinic setting preferred.
  • Ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • HIPAA guidelines and PHI security knowledge.
  • Ability to manage multiple changing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Take vitals and review patient history.
  • Prepare and clean room for patient and physician encounter.
  • Perform office-based tests and treatments under clinician supervision.
  • Coordinate patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, and scheduling.
  • Manage check-in and check-out functions.
  • Answer incoming calls and route to appropriate staff.

IMS is currently searching for a professional, compassionate and knowledgeable individual to fill the position of Medical Office Assistant for our Primary Care clinic in Mesa. The Medical Office Assistant is responsible for providing support by assisting patients and their family members before, during and after their visit. Medical Assistants work alongside doctors, nurses, front office staff, and other clinical personnel, performing functions that help the clinic run smoothly.

Responsibilities:

  • Take vitals/review patient history
  • Prepare and clean room for patient and get patient prepared for the physician encounter.
  • Performs a variety of office-based testing and treatments related to patient care under the supervision of clinician care.
  • Coordinates and manages patient care including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions and scheduling of patients for clinic, hospital and other ancillary medical treatments and tests.
  • Manages check-in and check-out functions
  • Answers incoming calls and route them to the appropriate staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have one of the following: Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification, Registered Medical Assistant, Emergency Room or Emergency Medical Technician certification, or minimum of 2-5 years of medical assisting experience
  • Experience with office medical procedures and treatments and knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR and scheduling software
  • Front Office experience in a clinic setting preferred
  • Requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to interact with people from different backgrounds and cultures
  • Requires the ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective and organized fashion
  • Must have knowledge of and always follow HIPAA guidelines and secure Protected Health Informaion
  • The ability to work in a constant state f alertness and in a safe manner
  • Computer skills that support efficient usage of systems
  • Desire to deliver the best quality customer servie
  • Professional demeanor when working with patient face-to-face or over the phone
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related job responsibilities
