Job summary

Skyline Gastroenterology, part of One GI, is seeking a Medical Office Assistant for our Jackson, TN clinic. The role requires prior front office experience and familiarity with medical terminology is a bonus. You will support front desk operations, patient check-in/out, and EMR data entry.

Qualifications

• Must have previous experience working in a front office setting.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is a bonus.
• BLS certification required - but eligible to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors, assessing their needs and directing them appropriately.
• Answer phone as needed.
• Verify and enter patient demographic information in the EMR.
• Check for necessary referrals and have forms completed and patient charts assembled.
• Schedule patients for visits, procedures, and imaging as requested.
• Collect co-pays, deductibles, and balances at time of visit.

Snapshot of Daily Duties

• Monday through Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
• Greet patients and visitors, assessing their needs and direct them appropriately.
• Answer phone as needed.
• Verify and/or enter all patient demographic information in the EMR.
• Check for necessary referrals.
• Have appropriate forms completed, signed, and assemble patient charts.
• Schedule patients for office visits, procedures, and other x-rays and tests as requested.
• Collect co-pays, deductibles, and balances at time of visit.
• Confirm all patient office visits and procedures for next business day.
• Manage and update patient records.
• Maintain the front desk and reception areas.

The Must Haves

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Prior experience working in a front office capacity preferred.
• BLS certification required - but eligible to obtain within 90 day of hire.
