The role requires a seasoned advocate with strong courtroom skills, the ability to lead teams, mentor staff counsel, and collaborate with claims professionals to achieve favorable outcomes for CAP physicians and affiliated hospitals.

Qualifikationen

• J.D. degree required.
• Minimum 8 years medical malpractice or civil litigation experience.
• Licensed to practice law in California.
• Ability to lead and mentor staff counsel.
• Ability to work independently.

Aufgaben

• Represent CAP physicians, hospitals or CAPIC in medical malpractice lawsuits as the lead trial and arbitration attorney; prepare and successfully try and arbitrate cases.
• Formulate creative discovery and investigation strategy.
• Obtain concurrence with claims specialist on defense preparation and ensure cost-effective completion.
• Prepare pleadings and respond to discovery.
• Attend court appearances as required or by court call.
• Responsible for compliance with the Defense Attorney Guidelines by all legal staff working on assigned cases.
• Ensure timely reporting of information/status to claims and client at all stages of litigation.
• Effectively lead a team.
