The ideal candidate is a seasoned litigator with strong courtroom skills, deep knowledge of medical malpractice, and the ability to lead a legal team effectively.

Qualifications

• J.D. degree required.
• 8+ years of medical malpractice or civil litigation experience.
• Active California law license required.
• Strong courtroom and trial skills.
• Ability to independently manage cases and responsibilities.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate legal staff.

Responsibilities

• Represent physicians, hospitals, and covered entities in medical malpractice lawsuits as lead trial and arbitration counsel.
• Prepare and successfully try and arbitrate cases.
• Develop creative discovery and investigation strategies.
• Collaborate with claims specialists on defense preparation and cost-effective case resolution.
• Prepare pleadings and respond to discovery.
• Attend court appearances as required or by court call.
• Ensure compliance with Defense Attorney Guidelines across assigned legal staff.
• Provide timely case updates and reporting to claims and clients throughout litigation.
• Lead and motivate legal teams through research, investigation, and trial preparation.
• Assist as second chair in trials and arbitrations and take the lead when appropriate.

Salary: $180,000–$230,000 annually, depending on experience

Job Summary
