Orion Placement is seeking an experienced attorney for a medical malpractice defense role in New York. The ideal candidate joins a busy litigation team, handling depositions, discovery, motions, and trial preparation while advancing their litigation career.

The position emphasizes hands-on responsibility, collaboration with seasoned litigators, and providing high-quality client service. Remote work options may be available one day per week as part of a flexible arrangement.

Qualifications

• Active New York Bar admission is required.
• 2+ years of medical malpractice defense litigation experience.
• Hands-on experience with depositions, discovery, motion practice, medical records review, and trial preparation.
• Strong research, writing, and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced litigation environment.
• Willingness to travel to courts and venues throughout the greater New York area.
• Familiarity with electronic billing, online legal research, Microsoft Office, and Outlook preferred.

Responsibilities

• Defend clients in complex medical malpractice litigation from discovery through trial preparation.
• Conduct legal research and draft motions, briefs, pleadings, and other litigation documents.
• Conduct and defend depositions and manage written discovery.
• Review medical records and expert materials to develop defense strategies.
• Prepare cases for hearings, conferences, motions, and trial.
• Participate in court proceedings and assist with all phases of litigation.
• Communicate professionally with clients, witnesses, court personnel, experts, and opposing counsel.
• Manage multiple active matters with deadlines and high-quality work product.
