New Horizons, Serving Individuals with Special Needs is seeking a full-time Direct Support Professional to assist in the Residential Department in Los Angeles, CA. Duties include transporting residents to medical appointments, assisting with personal and household tasks, and handling clerical work in the nurses’ office.
Requires high school diploma, CA driver’s license, CPR/First Aid certifications, and the ability to pass a background check.
Assists the Residential Department in a variety of roles, including but not limited to transporting residents to medical appointments and completing required paperwork, scheduling medical appointments, assisting group home residents with their personal needs and/or household responsibilities, and performing clerical tasks in the nurses’ office as needed. This is a full-time position.
Schedule: Monday- Friday 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Pay Rate: $22.50/hr

Must have a valid California Driver License, with a good driving record and have current CPR and First Aid certifications. Must also pass a criminal background check. The individual must also take the Direct Support Professional (DSP) training and pass the test within the first year of hire.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma required. Strong preference is given to applicants who have had one year working with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. Since there are many rules and regulations in licensed residential facilities, the applicant must demonstrate the ability to follow specific directions as set forth by his/her direct supervisor and a variety of professional staff. Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and Outlook; legible hand-writing; good communication skills (verbal and written); Medical Assistant certification is a plus; one year of working in a medical office is a plus
