Job summary

Endeavor Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) at Glenbrook Hospital in Glenview, IL. The position is full-time with Monday–Friday night shift (10:30pm–7:00am) and occasional weekends/holidays.

You will evaluate tests, prepare blood components, and ensure quality control while maintaining equipment and inventory.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Biological Science required or equivalent.
• MLS or MLT certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and interpret laboratory test results, recording and reporting findings accurately.
• Process and prepare blood components for transfusions according to SOPs.
• Conduct antibody screening and compatibility testing.
• Maintain equipment and troubleshoot as needed.
• Monitor expiration dates and maintain proper inventory of blood products.
• Adhere to quality control/assurance and participate in proficiency testing.
• Perform routine processing and cryopreservation of HPC per SOP using sterile technique.

Hourly Pay Range:

$24.86 - $37.29 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Highlights:

• Position: Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT)
• Location: Glenbrook Hospital
• Full Time/Part Time: Full Time
• Hours: Monday-Friday,10:30pm-7am, e/o weekend and rotating holidays

What you will do:

• Evaluate and interpret laboratory test results, recording and reporting findings accurately
• Process and prepare blood components such as red blood cells, platelets, and plasma for transfusions, following standard operating procedures
• Conduct antibody screening and compatibility testing on blood samples, using advanced laboratory equipment and techniques
• Maintain equipment, instruments, and supplies in good working condition, troubleshooting issues as needed
• Ensure proper inventory management of blood products by monitoring expiration dates and maintaining appropriate stock levels
• Adhere to quality control and quality assurance processes, performing routine checks and participating in proficiency testing
• Performs routine processing and cryopreservation of hematopoietic progenitor cells (HPC) according to SOP, using sterile technique and following Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

What you will need:

• Education: Preferred: graduated from MLS (Bachelors) or MLT (Associates) program. Required (at least): Bachelor's degree in a Biological Science
• Certification: Preferred: MLS or MLT certification
• Experience: Preferred: Previous relevant clinical experience. New graduates are welcome.
• Unique or Preferred Skills: Strong foundation in medical laboratory science. Able to solve technical and interdepartmental problems related to various Laboratory areas with assistance under supervision. Capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of results and taking corrective action or notifying appropriate supervisory personnel to assist with taking corrective action. Good communication and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with others.
