Job summary

McLeod Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/MLS to analyze biological samples in the laboratory and relay precise results to clinical staff. The role involves collecting and preparing specimens, performing quality control, following safety protocols, and maintaining equipment and supplies.

Qualified candidates will have an MLT/MLS track and a degree in medical laboratory technology. This position offers an on-site role with hospital teams across the McLeod Health system.

Qualifications

• Qualified to perform moderate and high complexity testing per CLIA 88.
• Must obtain MLT/MLS certification within 6 months of hire.
• Associate's or bachelor's degree in medical laboratory technology required.

Responsibilities

• Collect, prepare, store and/or transport specimens using correct techniques and anticoagulants.
• Organize and perform analysis of specimens with quality control.
• Follow safety procedures and protocols.
• Perform routine and pre-routine maintenance.
• Train and document proficiency of assigned employees/students.
• Receive and document requests for blood draws and coordinate collection.
• Coordinate daily technical activities to ensure tests are complete and accurate in a timely manner.
• Maintain supplies.
• Other duties as assigned.
