Job summary

MaineHealth's NorDx department seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform and monitor lab testing of patient specimens, report results, and maintain instrument quality. Eligible candidates with under 2 years of experience may receive a $7,500 sign-on bonus; those with more than 2 years may receive $15,000, prorated for part-time or per diem roles.

Role requires an Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and certification within six months of hire.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a similar field is required.
• Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician required within six months of hire by a recognized professional organization (e.g., ASCP, AMT).
• May be asked to work at other sites/locations as needed.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform and monitor laboratory testing of patient specimens.
• Confirm, interpret, correlates, and report normal and abnormal results; recognize problems and initiate resolutions.
• Ensure accuracy, quality control and required instrument maintenance.
