Job summary

Essentia Health is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician for Sendouts at St. Mary\'s Medical Center in Duluth, MN. Day/evening shifts; weekends and holidays rotation. 0.6 FTE with possible remote/hybrid option. Certification and ASCP or equivalent required within 1 year of hire.

Responsibilities include supporting specimen processing, performing tests across complexity levels per CLIA, and maintaining QA/QC. Phlebotomy and customer service are expected components of the role.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an associates degree in Medical Laboratory Technician or meets CLIA guidelines for the complexity of laboratory testing for alternative route.

Responsibilities

• Support specimen processing, testing coordination, result handling, and other technically complex responsibilities within the Send Out Department.
• Perform and report laboratory tests of all complexity levels, as defined by CLIA.
• Perform testing on patients of all ages to assist with the routine screening, diagnosis, treatment, and management of diseases and injuries.
• Apply complex problem-solving skills to laboratory procedures and testing issues.
• Participate in Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) monitoring.
• Perform instrumentation maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Process and prepare specimens for testing and referral.
• Perform phlebotomy as needed.
• Provide customer service to patients, healthcare providers, and other laboratory personnel.
