Job summary

Crisp Regional Health Services in Cordele, GA is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician under the leadership of the Manager, Clinical Laboratory. The role prepares specimens for tests, performs analyses, records results, and participates in quality control to ensure accurate patient results.

The candidate should have a High School Diploma with science emphasis and formal medical laboratory technician training, or an Associate’s Degree with certification from ASCP/AMT/NCS/AAB.

Qualifications

• Education requirements include high school diploma with science emphasis and completion of formal medical lab technician training; or two years of pertinent clinical lab experience; an associate’s degree or equivalent.
• Requires MLT certification from ASCP, AMT, NCS, AAB or other approved agencies.

Responsibilities

• Prepares specimens for tests according to test protocols and conducts laboratory tests and analyses.
• Performs and records quality control checks to calibrate testing equipment.
• Ensures accuracy of all tests before releasing results and follows policy for corrective actions.
• Generates uncollected and holdover logs and ensures completion of results.
• Records and reports test results, enters outcomes, and communicates critical results to medical staff.
• Assists with instrument maintenance and quality control procedures.
• Troubleshoots equipment and procedures under supervision.
• Maintains inventory of supplies, prepares solutions, and transports specimens to the lab.
• Keeps work area clean and adheres to safety and infection control policies.
• May cover shifts to maintain coverage under supervision.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

High School Diploma with science emphasis; medical lab technician training; or Associate’s Degree in medical laboratory technology; or two years (90 quarter hours) or equivalent

Medical Laboratory Technician certification from ASCP/AMT/NCS/AAB or approved agency
