Job summary

USC Care Medical Group in Glendale, CA seeks a Technician to assist the Clinical Laboratory Scientist by processing specimens, performing automated analysis, instrument checks, calibration, maintenance and quality control under supervision.

Duties include clerical tasks, obtaining specimens, communicating results, and ensuring timely reporting while upholding safety guidelines. Requires strong communication and customer service skills; hourly rate range is $27.45 - $46.68.

Qualifications

• High school or equivalent as minimum education.
• One year clinical laboratory experience in an acute care facility or equivalent.
• Excellent communication and customer service required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• Report directly to the CLS on duty and assist licensed personnel in testing procedures.
• Perform daily checks and maintenance of instruments.
• Conduct manual, semi-automated and automated analyses across biochemistry, hematology, microbiology and blood bank as required.
• Recognize normal, abnormal and critical results and take appropriate action.
• Communicate results and interact with staff and outside laboratories.
• Ensure results are available within defined turnaround times.
• Assist in quality assurance and continuing education activities.
• Monitor supplies and assist with inventory as needed.
• Adhere to safety and infection control guidelines.
• Obtain specimens from designated patients and ensure proper handling.
• Maintain an English-speaking work environment and provide patient-oriented service.
