Job summary

Cooley Dickinson Hospital in Northampton, MA is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform and monitor a broad range of clinical laboratory tests across microbiology, serology, urinalysis, blood bank, hematology and chemistry. This role is part of the 1199SEIU Bargaining Unit and reports to the Laboratory Supervisor.

The position requires an Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and MLT(ASCP) certification; 6 months to 1 year of experience is preferred, with recent Blood

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate’s degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
• MLT(ASCP) certification required (ASCP-BOC).
• 6 months to 1 year MLT experience preferred; recent Blood Banking experience if working in Blood Bank required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain procedures within the department, including instrument operation, QC, documentation of patient results.
• Operate instrumentation and follow CAP/regulatory standards.
• Conduct quality control and evaluate results with corrective action as needed.
• Report, telephone and fax results as requested to physicians and staff.
• Maintain supplies and communicate inventory needs to Supervisor/Team Leader.
• Assist in orientation of students and new staff and support the lab team.
