Job summary

Coosa Valley Medical Center in Sylacauga, Alabama is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to join our patient‑centered team. You will perform laboratory tests across chemistry, hematology, microbiology, serology and related areas, and ensure accurate computer entry of orders.

The ideal candidate has an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, at least 1 year of lab experience, excellent pipetting and strong communication skills, and the ability to work well with colleagues in a fast

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in MLT required.
• Minimum 1 year of lab experience; team member with strong organizational skills.
• Excellent pipetting skills and ability to organize workflow.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to work with facility members, students, residents, staff, patients and others.

Responsibilities

• Enter laboratory orders in computer systems and perform tests in allergy, celiac, chemistry, endocrinology, hematology, microbiology, molecular biology, urine chemistry and serology.
• Demonstrate knowledge of CLIA waived, moderate, and high‑complexity laboratory procedures; communicate effectively with team members.

• Under general supervision, the MLT is responsible for computer entry of laboratory orders, and performance of laboratory tests in the areas of allergy, celiac, chemistry, endocrinology, hematology, microbiology, molecular biology, urine chemistry and serology.


• The applicant must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a knowledge and experience in performance of CLIA waived, moderate, and high-complexity laboratory procedures.

• Minimum of 1 year of lab experience required. The ideal candidate needs to be able to work as part of a team and must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills.


• Must possess excellent pipetting skills (single and multi-channel). Ability to organize workflow and coordinate with other team members.


• Ability to maintain accurate records. Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions. Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly. Must possess strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with facility members, students, residents, staff, patients and other third parties.


• Ability to operate computer, keyboard and printer.
