Job summary

Wellstar Health System in Georgia seeks a Laboratory professional to perform qualitative and quantitative tests and support the laboratory's accuracy and safety standards. You will document all activities, monitor supplies, and ensure compliance with safety and accreditation requirements while delivering excellent patient care.

Responsibilities include operating LIS/HIS components, calibration and quality control, and ongoing education participation.

Qualifications

• Scientific based Associate degree required, or completion of MLT program that qualifies candidate to take the certification exam.
• Minimum 1 year in a CLIA-accredited laboratory preferred.
• Certifications listed upon hire: MLT (ASCP), MLT (AAB), MT (AAB), MT (HEW), MT (ASCP), LABTECH.
• Strong documentation, data entry and adherence to safety and regulatory policies.

Responsibilities

• Analyze patient samples and evaluate test result reliability based on age, gender and specimen acceptability.
• Perform calibration procedures and verify quality control values before analysis.
• Participate in proficiency surveys and continuing education programs.
• Conduct routine maintenance and minor instrument repairs; document activities.
• Handle Laboratory Information System (LIS) and HIS tasks in preanalytic to postanalytic processes.
• Comply with Wellstar Health System policies and code of conduct.

Job Summary

Accountable for performing a variety of qualitative and quantitative laboratory tests, both manual and automated, of varying complexity to be utilized in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Other duties include: responsibility for documentation of all activities, monitoring supplies; compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements related to safety and laboratory testing; face to face and telephone customer service; computer data entry and retrieval; workplace cleanliness and maintenance. Follows all laboratory and hospital policies and procedures.

Core Responsibilities And Essential Functions

• Analyzes patient samples and evaluates the reliability of test results according to age, gender, and specimen acceptability criteria prior to releasing information for use in patient care and treatment.
• Performs calibration procedures, and analyzes and verifies the acceptability of Quality Control values prior to analyzing patient samples.
• Participates in assigned proficiency surveys, performance improvement activities, and mandatory continuing education programs.
• Performs and documents routine maintenance and minor instrument repairs.
• Performs Laboratory and Hospital Information Systems (LIS and HIS) computer functions involved in preanalytic, analytic, and postanalytic processes.
• Performs other duties as assigned
• Complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.

• Associates Biology or Associates Chemistry or Associates Other / Related Field or Other / Certificate Other / Related Field

• MLT(ASCP) - Medical Laboratory Technician or MLT(AAB) - Medical Laboratory Technician or MT(AAB) - Medical Technologist or MT(HEW) - Medical Technologist or MT(ASCP) - Medical Technologist or LABTECH - Clinical Lab Tech

Additional License(s) And Certification(s)

Required Minimum Experience

Education clarification: Scientific based Associates degree required, or completion of MLT program (technical school/diploma program) which qualifies candidate to take the certification exam. Required

Required Minimum Skills

• Extensive organizational skills
• Basic computer knowledge
• Experience in using epic, any LIS, Microsoft software, Outlook, Remisol, etc.- PREFERRED
