UNTWN Uniontown Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform and analyze clinical laboratory tests within licensure scope, following SOPs and quality control. You will set up and monitor instruments, perform phlebotomy when needed, and report results to nursing staff and physicians.

The position emphasizes accuracy, adherence to safety guidelines, and teamwork in a fast-paced clinical lab environment at Uniontown, PA. Entry is for 40 hours/week, non-exempt.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor-level degree not listed; requires Associate degree in Medical/Clinical Laboratory Technology or science.
  • Licensure as required by state where services will be provided (PA, WV, MD, OH rules vary).
  • Certification as MLT by ASCP or AMT is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process and analyze samples following SOPs with accuracy.
  • Set up, run, maintain, and adjust laboratory instruments.
  • Perform quality control and infection control procedures.
  • Carry out phlebotomy procedures when needed.
  • Document results and report findings to nurses/physicians.

Associate of Science (AAS) degree in Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Technology or Science OR Associate’s degree is a chemical or biological science.2. Must possess current licensure as required by state board where services will be provided:**PA**: No state license issued**WV:** High Complexity Testing Personnel (HCTP) License **OR** Trainee License issued by the WV Department of Health**MD:** No state license issued**OH:** No state license issued**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:****EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:**1. Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).**EXPERIENCE:**1. Complete forms and reports findings to nurses and/or physicians.6. Interact with other healthcare workers to solve problems and interpret patient lab results within the framework of medical technology.7. Perform routine and basic laboratory testing within a designated area in the clinical laboratory.8. Recognize testing inconsistency and takes appropriate corrective action.9. Maintain all patent and specimen records accurately, neatly, and legibly.10. Follow hospital, state, and federal guidelines for ensuring a safe environment for workers, patients, and public.11. Maintain compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures for safety, security, and infection control.12.
