Job summary

UHC United Hospital Center in Morgantown, WV seeks a Medical Laboratory Technician to perform and analyze clinical laboratory tests across disciplines in compliance with SOPs. The role includes phlebotomy, quality control, instrument maintenance, and reporting results to nurses and physicians.

The ideal candidate holds an AS degree in Medical Laboratory Technology (or equivalent), WV MLT license or trainee status, and ASCP/AMT certification.

Qualifications

• Possess current licensure as required by the state where services are provided.
• WL WV license: Medical Laboratory Technician License or Trainee License.
• Certification as MLT by ASCP or AMT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process and analyze samples accurately and productively.
• Set up, run, maintain, and adjust laboratory instruments per procedures.
• Perform quality control and infection control in all areas.
• Perform phlebotomy procedures as needed.
• Complete forms and report findings to nurses/physicians.
• Collaborate with healthcare staff to interpret results.
• Perform routine lab testing in designated areas.
• Identify testing inconsistencies and take corrective action.
• Maintain patient/specimen records clearly and accurately.
• Follow hospital and federal guidelines for safety and security.
• Ensure compliance with department policies and infection control.
• Communicate professionally with patients, families, and staff.
