Fairview is looking for a Medical Laboratory Technician (Lab MLT) at M Health Fairview Clinic - Brooklyn Park. This position is for a 0.8 FTE, 64 hours per pay period. The primary location is Brooklyn Park, with cross-training to work at M Health Fairview Bass Lake and Elk River. The typical hours are 8:30 am-5:00 pm, with occasional start times from 6:30 am to 12:00 pm. Shifts are 8 hours, including one weekend shift (Saturday) at an Urgent Care site, averaging every 7th weekend. Schedule may change to meet staffing needs, including floating to nearby clinics.

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) plays a vital role in delivering quality, proficient, and professional laboratory services to diverse populations within an ambulatory healthcare environment. Responsibilities include performing waived or moderate complexity testing following SOPs, correlating data-based knowledge of technical and instrumental conditions, performing quality control procedures, and possibly involved in specimen collection, handling, scheduling tests, and providing results. The MLT works independently under general supervision.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate or higher degree from an accredited college/university in a related laboratory field, including lab practicum or equivalent, qualifying as moderate complexity testing personnel per CLIA ’88.
  • Alternatively, an Associate of Applied Science or higher degree in a chemical, biological, clinical, or medical laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution (Diploma or transcript required).
  • Or, A.A./A.S. or higher degree or 60 semester hours with 6 in biology and 6 in chemistry (Transcript required).
  • Or, a combination of education and experience, including completion of a 50-week U.S. military medical laboratory training course, plus an associate or higher degree or 60 semester hours with 6 in biology and 6 in chemistry (Transcript required).

Certification from HHS-approved bodies such as ASCP, AAB, or AMT is required; if not certified at hire, certification must be obtained within 12 months. Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross) must be obtained within 90 days.

Preferred Qualifications
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician in an ambulatory or acute healthcare setting.
Other Required Skills
  • Good phlebotomy skills.
Desired Skills
  • Experience in phlebotomy.
  • Ability to work under stress in various situations.
  • Independent judgment.
  • Good manual dexterity.
  • EPIC Beaker experience.
