Job description

The ChristianaCare Laboratory located on the Wilmington campus is currently recruiting for a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technician.

This position is on the Midnight Shift, Monday - Friday, 10:30 PM - 7:00 AM. Every other weekend and 2-3 holidays per year are required.

Responsibilities:

1. Accurately perform all test procedures as listed in the procedure manual.
2. Perform and record all scheduled instrument preventative maintenance procedures.
3. Follow established quality control procedures, documenting corrective actions if necessary.
4. Adhere to all turnaround times, verify critical values and specimen identification, and document calls as needed.
5. Verify completion of all stat and routine results in a timely manner.
6. Record workload and other statistics into the computer system as necessary.
7. Perform work safely, adhering to all department safety rules and practices.
8. Perform other related duties as instructed.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's of Science degree in Medical Technology or Medical Laboratory Science, or completion of an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology.
• Knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and procedures.
• Knowledge of infection control techniques and procedures.
• Ability to coordinate simultaneous tests and procedures accurately.
• Skill in the use of automated laboratory equipment.
• ASCP Certification preferred.
