Job description

The ChristianaCare General Laboratory located on the Newark campus is currently recruiting for a Part-time Medical Laboratory Technician/Scientist. This position is on the Midnight shift, with every other weekend and two to three holidays per year required.

Responsibilities:

1. Accurately perform all test procedures as listed in the procedure manual.
2. Perform and record all scheduled instrument preventative maintenance procedures.
3. Follow established quality control procedures, documenting corrective actions if necessary.
4. Adhere to all turnaround times, verify critical values and specimen identification, and document calls as needed.
5. Verify completion of all stat and routine results in a timely manner.
6. Record workload and other statistics into the computer system as necessary.
7. Perform assigned work safely, adhering to established department safety rules and practices.
8. Perform other related duties as instructed.

Requirements:

• Completion of an Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent.
• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or equivalent.
• ASCP Certification preferred.
• Knowledge of clinical laboratory techniques and procedures.
• Knowledge of infection control techniques and procedures.
• Ability to coordinate simultaneous tests and procedures with accuracy.
• Skill in the use of automated laboratory equipment.
