Job summary

Sanford Health seeks a laboratory professional to perform and supervise clinical testing across pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases. You will follow SOPs, ensure safety, and uphold quality standards within a large rural health system.

Requirements include a Bachelor's or MLS/MT cert, registry eligibility, possible ND licensure, and BLS. Shifts are 10 hours with a 36-hour week and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in laboratory or biological sciences required.
• MLS Associates degree in laboratory or biological sciences required.
• National certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved agency or registry eligibility.
• Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable.
• Registry eligible candidates must complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months.
• If working in North Dakota, must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.
• Maintain continuing education credits as required for license and certifications.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical phases of testing.
• Follow SOPs and ensure laboratory safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.

Collect laboratory specimens, as needed. Process lab specimens and perform clinical laboratory testing, including manual and automated methods, in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures. Demonstrate skill in use of equipment relevant to position. Demonstrate critical and independent judgement in decision-making and problem-solving. Demonstrate personal commitment to the principles, values, and ethics of the organization to promote a positive work environment. Seek personal learning opportunities. Recognize safety hazards and comply with all safety practices and protocols. Assist in training new staff. Serve as a laboratory resource. Perform other related duties as assigned. May be required to travel to other locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in laboratory or biological sciences required.
• MLS Associates degree in laboratory or biological sciences required.
• MLT Medical Lab Technician $25.00 - $34.50 per hour.
• Medical Lab Scientist $29.50 - $44.00 per hour.
• Possess a national certification for Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) through an approved Health and Human Services (HHS) agency, for example American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or be registry eligible.
• Certification as a Medical Technologist (MT) also acceptable.
• Registry eligible candidates must successfully complete the Board of Registry examination within 12 months of employment.
• If working in North Dakota (ND), must be licensed by the ND Board of Clinical Laboratory Practice.
• Maintain continuing education credits equivalent to the state requirements as needed for license and certifications.
• May be required to have Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
