Job summary

Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist for the Laboratory Department in Kaufman, TX. This PRN/part-time role requires a strong foundation in clinical laboratory science and relevant certifications.

The candidate will maintain specimen integrity, participate in staff training, and uphold quality control standards while supporting the department's performance and patient care goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, applied tech, or related science is required or grandfathered if applicable.
• Internship in a recognized Medical Technology program is required.
• 2+ years in a Medical Laboratory is preferred.
• Licensure such as MT(ASCP) or MLS(ASCP) with minimum months is required.
• Other state licenses or boards may meet the requirement.
• Microbiology-specific certification may be required if working in Microbiology.

Responsibilities

• Maintains specimen integrity throughout the testing process.
• Demonstrates active cost effectiveness.
• Participates in orientation and training of students, volunteers, new employees and observers.
• Adhere to the THR Promise Behaviors.
• Gives direction and guidance to technical staff and laboratory support personnel.
• Demonstrates understanding of quality control guidelines.

Education

Bachelor's Degree Medical Technology, Applied Technology, Clinical Lab Science or Chemical, Physical or Biological Science

Internship in an approved Medical Technology training program

2 Years experience in a Medical Laboratory

MT(ASCP) - Medical Technologist 6 Months

MLS(ASCP) - Medical Lab Scientist 6 Months

Other AMT, AAB, HHS, NCA, HEW, CLS-CA, FL, NY state license

M(ASCP) - Microbiology 6 Months

Here’s What You Need

• Bachelor's Degree Medical Technology, Applied Technology, Clinical Lab Science or Chemical, Physical or Biological Science preferred. Individuals hired as a CLS II prior to January 3, 2010 will be grandfathered to the MLS position with existing education. degree may be obtained within 3 months of hire is required
• Internship in an approved Medical Technology training program is required and
• 2 Years experience in a Medical Laboratory is preferred
• MT(ASCP) - Medical Technologist 6 Months is required Or
• MLS(ASCP) - Medical Lab Scientist 6 Months is required Or
• Other AMT, AAB, HHS, NCA, HEW, CLS- CA, FL, NY state license, Philippine Board of Technical Technology 6 Months is required Or
