Job summary

Texas Health Flower Mound is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to join the Laboratory Department. The role involves ensuring specimen integrity, processing tests accurately, and maintaining high standards of patient care in a fast-paced setting.

Requirements include an Associate degree or equivalent in medical technology or lab science, completion within 3 months of hire, ASCP MLT certification or equivalent, and 2 years of lab experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Medical Technology or related science required or completed within 3 months of hire
• AT minimum 60 hours of qualifying lab science coursework including chemistry and biology, or equivalent
• Internship in Medical Technology program required
• 2 years of medical laboratory experience preferred
• English reading/writing and communication skills required

Responsibilities

• Evaluate specimen integrity and resolve issues in collection/processing
• Monitor and follow up on outstanding tests
• Troubleshoot tests not collected or received on time
• Attend continuing education activities and trainings
• Follow established lab procedures and computer protocols

Here’s What You Need

• Associate's Degree Medical Technology, Clinical Lab Science or Chemical, Physical or Biological science preferred; must be attained within 3 months of hire is required Or
• Other Education equivalent to an associate's degree in a laboratory science or medical technology Must include at least 60 hours or equivalent from an accredited institution that include at a minimum either 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses that include at least 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination is required
• Internship in an approved Medical Technology training program is required and
• 2 Years experience in a Medical Laboratory is preferred
• MLT(ASCP) - Medical Lab Technician MLT(ASCP) or equivalent (AMT, AAB, HHS, NCA, HEW, CLS- CA, FL, NY state license, Philippine Board of Technical Technology) Registry must be attained within 6 months of hire date. Prefer MLT(ASCP) 6 Months is required
• Strong positive interpersonal skills. Ability to read, write and speak English clearly. Problem solving ability, time management skills. Possess organizational skills to function successfully in a fast paced work environment. Computer literate.

• Specimen integrity is recognized by evaluating and solving problems related to collection and/or processing of specimens
• Checks outstanding tests list in a timely manner
• Troubleshoots and follows through on outstanding tests which appear to have not been collected/received when expected
• Maintains commitment to profession by attending continuing education sessions. (ex. Web seminars, ASCP seminars, Tarleton and Lab sponsored seminars by industry)
• Follows established laboratory test procedures, including using proper computer protocol
