Job summary

McLaren Health Care in Michigan is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to perform routine and specialized tests, report findings, and support patient care in accordance with QA/QI standards. The role requires a MLS/MLT background and adherence to infection control.

Per diem schedule with variable daily hours and weekends as needed; operates with high accuracy, teamwork, and continuous professional development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, medical laboratory science, chemistry, or related biological science field.
• MLS certification within 18 months of hire or transfer.

Responsibilities

• Determine normal and abnormal components of body fluids by chemical analyses.
• Analyze blood cells by counting and identifying cells.
• Prepare blood, plasma, and platelets for transfusions by testing blood type and compatibility.
• Process, read, and report cultures and antibiotic sensitivities.
• Maintain and calibrate analyzers and other laboratory equipment; perform preventive maintenance.
• Manage laboratory supplies inventory and ordering.
• Ensure QA/QI compliance and infection-control standards.
• Orient and/or train new employees.
• Perform other related duties as required.
