Job summary

Texas Health Resources is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to join our Cleburne campus on a part-time basis. The role requires a MT/MLS background with internship experience and ASCP licensure within six months of hire, plus strong English communication and teamwork in a fast-paced lab.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or related science field is required.
• Completion of an approved Medical Technician internship is required.
• ASCP MLS/MT certification required within 6 months of hire depending on role.
• Licensure in listed boards/licensing bodies within 6 months after hire.
• Strong reading, writing and speaking English; good interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain specimen integrity and proper handling.
• Operate and support Laboratory workflows and procedures.
• Uphold professional accountability in daily tasks.
• Perform test procedures according to standards.
• Document quality control and comply with safety regulations.
• Ensure safe and compliant laboratory operations.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in MT program or equivalent Science

Internship in an approved Medical Technician training program

2 years’ experience in a Medical Laboratory preferred

MLS (ASCP) Medical Lab Scientist certification within 6 months

MT (ASCP) Medical Technologist certification within 6 months

Licenses: AMT, AAB, HHS, NCA, HEW, CLS-CA, FL, NY state license, Philippine Board… within 6 months

Microbiology certification (M(ASCP) - Microbiology) within 6 months

Strong interpersonal and English communication skills

Problem solving, time management, organizational skills

MLS Requirement

• Bachelor’s Degree in MT program or equivalent Science required
• Internship in an approved Medical Technician training program required.
• 2 years’ experience in a Medical Laboratory preferred.
• MLS (ASCP) Medical Lab Scientist required within 6 months after hire
• MT (ASCP) Medical Technologist required within 6 months after hire
• Other AMT, AAB, HHS, NCA, HEW, CLS- CA, FL, NY state license, Philippine Board of Technical Technology required within 6 months after hire Or
• M(ASCP) - Microbiology if working in Microbiology required within 6 months after hire
• Strong positive interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read, write and speak English clearly.
• Problem solving ability, time management skills.
• Possess organizational skills to function successfully in a fast-paced work environment.
• Computer literate.
