Job summary

Akron Children's Medical Laboratory Science position seeks a MLS to perform routine and complex testing, evaluate results, and support clinical decision-making. Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related science required
• Internship in Medical Technology or equivalent experience required
• ASCP Technologist certification or eligibility required
• 2 years of relevant experience preferred
• Supervisor experience: none

Responsibilities

• Follows procedures for collecting, processing biological specimens and evaluating specimens for acceptability.
• Exercises professional judgment to prioritize and evaluate varying test requests efficiently.
• Performs laboratory tests of all complexities using a variety of techniques, instrumentation, and equipment with accuracy and precision.
• Demonstrates knowledge of testing principles and analytic procedures and interprets results with clinical context.
• Performs quality control, calibrates and troubleshoots equipment, assists with new methods, documents maintenance and corrective action.
• Assists in training new employees and conducts competence assessments on tests across CLIA complexities.
• Maintains a neat and safe work area and participates in department education efforts.
• Demonstrates ability to care for patients of all ages as appropriate.
• Other duties as required.
