The Medical Laboratory Scientist in Microbiology performs laboratory tests on patient specimens, providing critical data for diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention. Responsibilities include maintaining records, exercising independent judgment to produce accurate results within quality standards, participating in research, and instructing staff and students on laboratory procedures. All tasks are performed according to standard operating procedures, with opportunities to develop or modify procedures and assume additional responsibilities as directed.
