The IU Health laboratories offer extensive services, operating 24/7 and performing over 19 million tests annually. Our testing services support hospitals and physicians nationwide.

Position Details

Shift: Full-Time, Evenings, 1.0 FTE

The Medical Laboratory Scientist performs tests on patient specimens, providing diagnostic information. Responsibilities include maintaining records, exercising independent judgment, participating in research, and instructing staff and students. Tasks are performed according to SOPs, with opportunities to develop procedures and assume additional responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or related sciences
  • One (1) year relevant experience
  • Certification or eligibility for certification by ASCP, AMT, NCA, or equivalent (certification must be obtained within 12 months of employment)
  • Knowledge of complex laboratory techniques and procedures
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and maintenance
  • Ability to maintain quality control records and use computer systems
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work independently amidst interruptions
  • Knowledge of laboratory safety protocols
