Qualifications

  • Certification as Medical Technologist (MLT/MT/CLS/MLS) required.
  • 1 year of hospital laboratory experience preferred.

Job description

This position is responsible for performance and reporting of clinical laboratory testing using a variety of automated, semi-automated and manual technologies. Responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of test results, initial troubleshooting of problems, instrument maintenance and following safe laboratory practices.

Accountabilities/Duties:

  • Collect lab specimens and evaluate their acceptability.
  • Complete necessary laboratory documentation.
  • Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient results.
  • Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
  • Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problems or immediately notify the laboratory general supervisor or director.
  • Utilize technical background knowledge of laboratory medicine across all areas of the laboratory. These include Immunohematology, Chemistry, TDM, Hematology, Coagulation, Serology, Urinalysis, Microbiology, and Phlebotomy.
  • Observe all safety and compliance requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or Bachelor's of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Scientist or related field.
  • Current certification as Medical Technologist (MLT/MT/CLS/MLS) or equivalent by a national board of registry i.e ASCP, AMT.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year hospital laboratory experience preferred.
