Medical Laboratory Scientist II - Cleveland, OH - Thursday - Monday 4:00PM-12:30AM
$10,000 sign-on bonus available for external applicants!
Department - Clin Lab - Auto Chemistry
Perform test procedures of moderate/high complexity requiring independent judgment and responsibility in specialties qualified by education, training, and experience.
Pay Range: $33.00+ per hour
Employee may be eligible for shift differentials of 10% for some or all hours on second shift and 15% for some or all hours on third shift. Additional details will be provided if an offer is extended.
Salary offers depend on skills, training, experience, education, certifications, and market factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonuses.

Responsibilities
- Ensure proficiency in all testing areas and troubleshoot instruments/procedures.
- Support quality control, troubleshooting, customer support, maintenance, staff training, process improvement, and special projects.
- Perform and report analytical tests per SOPs, ensuring quality control.
- Follow laboratory policies for specimen handling, testing, and record keeping.
- Maintain turnaround times, including STAT and critical results.
- Verify reagent/test kit dates and expiration.
- Document QC analyses and make quality decisions.
- Inform supervisory staff of testing issues and deviations.
- Enter results into Laboratory Information System accurately.
- Maintain a safe and sanitary laboratory environment.
- Complete training and competency checks; assist in training others if qualified.
- Adhere to CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and safety standards.
- Use PPE and safety controls as directed.
- Assist clients and participate in inspections as needed.
- May assume lead responsibilities in supervisor’s absence.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- 1 year of full-time experience or training in high complexity testing in a clinical lab.
- Preferred: 3+ years of clinical experience, recent in current department.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Lifting objects 1-10 pounds frequently; occasional lifting of 11-25 pounds; rarely over 36 pounds.
- Ability to stand and work at the bench for long periods.
- Frequent walking/standing; manual dexterity for lab instruments.
Knowledge and Skills
- Knowledge of designated specialty and departmental policies.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, Biology, or related field.
- Foreign candidates require credential evaluation; U.S. candidates need transcripts.
- Proven leadership, problem-solving, attention to detail, independence, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Laboratory Information Systems.
Education and Certification
- Associates or Bachelor’s Degree required.
- ASCP Certification preferred.
