Job summary

Luminis Health in Annapolis, MD is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform a broad range of clinical laboratory tests and provide accurate results to support patient care.

The role requires ASCP certification eligibility, a BS degree, and experience in an acute care setting; you will operate instruments, ensure quality controls, and participate in proficiency testing as part of a collaborative laboratory team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree with course work sufficient for ASCP certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist/Specialist/HEW (MT).
• MLS(ASCP), MT(ASCP), categorical or specialist ASCP, MT(HEW), or MT(AMT) certification required.
• One year of experience in an acute care facility as a Medical Laboratory Scientist preferred.
• There is a reasonable expectation that employees in this position will be exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
• Physical Demands - Medium Duty.

Responsibilities

• Maintains safe, clean working environment by following procedures and regulations.
• Maintains inter- and intradepartmental workflow through cooperation and clear hand-offs.
• Performs clinical laboratory tests across multiple disciplines.
• Documents results and communicates abnormal patient conditions to supervisors, pathologists, physicians, or nurses.
• Operates and maintains laboratory instrumentation and performs preventive maintenance.
• Participates in external proficiency testing and continuing education to maintain licensure.
