Qualifications

• ASCP certification eligibility or active certification preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Responsibilities

• Creates a positive environment promoting process improvement and ownership.
• Maintains safe, clean work area following procedures and regulations.
• Fosters inter- and intradepartmental cooperation during handoffs.
• Manages laboratory supplies; monitors inventory and orders as needed.
• Interprets test results and answers clinical inquiries; mentors staff and students.
• Performs hematology, chemistry, bacteriology, immunology, and urinalysis tests as applicable.
• Prepares reports by collecting data; documents findings in LIS and alerts when abnormal.
• Operates and maintains laboratory instrumentation; performs preventive maintenance.
• Participates in quality plans; documents QC and addresses issues.
• Engages in external proficiency testing and continuing education to maintain licensure.
• Ensures compliance with safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
