Job summary

Luminis Health is recruiting a Medical Laboratory Scientist to perform routine and specialized diagnostic testing in a dynamic clinical laboratory. You will interpret results, mentor staff, and ensure quality through QC and proficiency testing.

Requires a Bachelor's degree in MLS/MT with ASCP eligibility and a proactive, safety‑minded approach. One year of acute-care experience is preferred; duties include hematology, chemistry, microbiology, serology, and more.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with course work sufficient for ASCP certification as MLS/MT/Specialist or equivalent.
• One year of experience in an acute care facility as a Medical Laboratory Scientist is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Creates a work environment that promotes process improvement and ownership of outcomes.
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures and regulations.
• Maintains inter- and intradepartmental workflow through cooperation and proper handoffs.
• Monitors laboratory supplies by checking stock, placing orders, and conserving resources.
• Interprets test results and provides clinical laboratory information; mentors new staff and students.
• Performs hematology, immunohematology, chemistry, bacteriology, mycology, serology, parasitology, endocrinology, immunology, and urinalysis testing.
• Prepares reports and documents results in the LIS; communicates abnormal findings to physicians and supervisors.
• Operates and maintains laboratory instrumentation; performs preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Participates in the laboratory quality plan and external proficiency testing; documents QC daily.
• Engages in continuing education to maintain licensure and stay current.
