Job summary

Baptist Health Princeton Hospital is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist to analyze blood and body fluids using automated and manual methods, ensuring high quality results within established timeframes.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and completion of an accredited MLS program, with licensure and national certification (ASCP/AAB/AMT) within 6 months of hire. Benefits start day one and comprehensive coverage is offered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Completion of an accredited medical laboratory scientist program is required.
• National Certification (ASCP, AAB, AMT) or eligible for board certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Verifies routine results and quality control data for accuracy and reliability.
• Performs, evaluates, and documents QC, preventive maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Receives guidance from more experienced team members or lead.
• Maintains current license as a Medical Technologist in the required specialties.
• National certification preferred (ASCP, AAB, AMT).
• Demonstrates proficiency with the laboratory computer system (ordering, results, inquiry).
• Ensures proper use and preparation of reagents and supplies.
• Communicates critical results to the patient care team and reports unusual findings to the supervisor.
• Regularly reports work activities to the oncoming technologist.
• Responds to technical inquiries as needed.
• Maintains regular, punctual attendance per Baptist Health policies.
• Maintains compliance with Baptist Health policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
