Job summary

Regions Hospital Core Laboratory is seeking a self-motivated Medical Lab Scientist to join our team. You will work as a generalist and float between departments, performing tasks from specimen receiving to high complexity testing in Blood Bank and automation lines across Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology and Urinalysis.

The role supports Regions Hospital, six suburban hospitals, and over twenty clinics. Rotating days/evenings with weekends/holidays, and a .8 FTE (32 hours per week) schedule,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, biology, or other science related field. Advanced degree or training (Masters) may substitute for preferred certification.
• Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) certification with ASCP or equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform specimen receiving at the front desk to high complex testing such as antibody ID, Antigen typing and other complex workups in Blood Bank.
• Work on moderate to high complex automation line in Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology and Urinalysis.
• Float between different departments as a generalist.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, biology, or other science related field

Advanced degree or training may substitute for certification
