Job summary

United Hospital District is seeking a 1.0 FTE Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to perform sample collection, processing and a range of tests in hematology, chemistry, coagulation, microbiology and blood bank. The MLT will follow SOPs to ensure safety, quality and regulatory compliance and will collaborate with other departments as a laboratory resource.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Graduation from an accredited MLT program required.
• ASCP certification or equivalent required.

Responsibilities

• Performs waived, moderate and high-complexity tests.
• Maintains knowledge of laboratory procedures and safety.
• Conducts instrument maintenance and QC as assigned.
• Performs venipuncture and specimen handling.
• Interprets results and reports abnormal findings to supervisor.
• Collaborates with departments to support patient care.
